Umm Qais

City : Umm Qais

Description : Hiding approximately 30km west of Irbid into the three borders of Jordan, Israel and the Golan, Um Qais is definitely worth the visit despite the long journey whether it is just for the day or overnight to relish the twilight and fresh mornings it brings. The main attraction there is discovering the remote area of vast ruins spreading out in all directions of the Decapolis city of Gadara which is something you should really look forward too when travelling there. They lie on the edge of the modern city meaning some are combined with the noticeable black basalt and white limestone of a deserted Ottoman village. Surprisingly Um Qais can be good for a weekend outing with both families and youths drawn just having a good time in the night not too worried about the atmosphere, so if this is your thing then Um Qais can not be missed off the agenda. To the east of the Decumanas Maximus stands the ancient arches of the Rest house. If you follow the street around the hill, then you will get too the grassy bowl where you will see North Theatre on the other side. Also, here on top of the hill is the museum which in fact once occupied the Ottoman governor. This museum is a very nice place to visit and will set your imagination on an incredible ride as you discover and see how beautiful and travequill this place is. Um Qais has so much variety there will be something for everyone.
